Today I tried a new cupcake recipe – Martha Stewart’s Devil’s Food Cupcakes , and along with it, I went with a Horror Movie theme for my decorating (quite fitting really).
I started off well and I think the first couple looked pretty good, but as the day wore on, and interruptions happened etc.. I felt lazy and didn’t do a very good job on the last few.. (I don’t think I need to point out which ones these are, it will be fairly obvious they are shit).

These are so AWESOME!
Sorry to bug you, but how on earth did you make these?! Please let me know, I’d love to steal your ideas!
Thanks Nikki
They’re just standard cupcakes iced with fondant icing.. Usually I like to draw a rough sketch of what I want to make, so I know what pieces I have to make and what colours I need to use. For colouring the fondant I have found gel colours the best to use (rather than the liquid type).. The main “tools” I used for these are a mini rolling pin for rolling out the background part, and standard bamboo skewers for doing things like the holes in the hockey mask. Everything else is just moulded by hand. Hope this helps
so fondant ice as you used a bag or had to shape them by hand? I’d like to make a Jason Voorhees mask and Fredy Krueger for my b/f’s birthday.
Yes, fondant icing, shaped by hand, skewers to make the holes, used a rounded end fondant tool to push out the nose shape, and I let it dry/harden with a ball of fondant behind it to retain the mask shape. Then when hardered, I used the tip of the skewer to do the gel colouring parts
